Educational Math Games for Making Math Fun!

For some people, math can be a bit intimidating. While the rules of engagement are fairly straight forward, learning math is much like learning a new language full of symbols and words we’ve never heard before. What can we do to make learning math less daunting and more fun? Is it possible to have fun with mathematics? The answer is yes! There are many fun math games for kids that will make learning the language of math enjoyable. Kids will hardly realize that they’re learning while they’re playing!

We carry many of elementary math games, so let’s begin by taking a look at a few Kindergarten math board games that will get kids started off on the right foot.

In the Fire Station Dalmatian game, players will make their way to the fire station, adding or subtracting spots on their pups as they go. Children can review and practice essential math skills as they race around the game board collecting and counting spots on these friendly Dalmatians, and the Dalmatian with the most spots is the winner! This is the perfect Kindergarten math game for a group of 2-4 players, ages 4 and up.

Are you ready to take a trip down into the Sum Swamp? Practicing basic addition and subtraction has never been such an exciting adventure! In the game of Sum Swamp, players create a number sentence by rolling the three dice and placing the highest number die first, the operation die second, and the smallest number die last. The player then adds or subtracts the numbers, and moves ahead the sum or difference. Watch out for the special spaces on the game board as they can change the game completely! This is a wonderful game for a group of 2-4 players ages 5 and up.

Now let’s change gears and have a relaxing afternoon in the garden patch with the Garden Patch Math Game. Children will have fun practicing cooperative play while reviewing basic math skills. Place the juicy watermelon side face up on the table for a game of addition. Flip the game board over to reveal the pumpkin and kids can play the subtraction version of the game. As an added bonus, the card decks used in the game may also be used as flashcards for extra math practice. Great for 1-4 players ages 5 and up.

Do we have math games for grade 1? What about math games for grade 2? Yes! For 1st and 2nd graders, why not turn learning fractions into a pizza party? Impossible? Not with the Pizza Fraction Fun Game! Featuring seven fraction math games with varied levels of difficulty, children will learn how to add and subtract fractions as well as match fraction equivalents. With 13 realistic-looking pizzas cut into 64 full-color pieces, this is a pizza party just waiting to happen! Just invite 2-6 players ages 6 years and up.

Math multiplication games aren’t easy to come by, much less FUN multiplication math games! Get your 3rd graders ready to rock and roll with the Roll 'n Multiply game! They’ll roll the 10-sided dice, multiply the numbers show and then place the corresponding game chip on the playing board. The first player to place four of their chips in a row is the winner! A bit of strategy is added to the mix when your opponents try to capture the chips you've placed. For 2 players ages 8 years and up.

If you are looking for some math fun that is flexible, look no further than the Money Jar! Fun for all kids ages 4 and up, you can set up a store at home or in your classroom to help children learn all about money! This jar, packed full of cash and coins, actually does triple duty! Is there such a thing as cool math for kids? Well, what is cooler than a handheld video game? Math Shark is a portable video game with 8 different skill levels featuring problems in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals and percentages. Quizzes may be modified for specific skill sets or set to random with the time completed shown after every set so children can see themselves improving! An especially nice feature for the classroom, the Math Shark may be switched to silent mode. Perfect for 1st grade and up both in the classroom and on the go!
